A group of six people are facing dozens of charges combined in connection with a months-long investigation into a drug trafficking ring in and around York Region.
Investigators launched their investigation, dubbed Project 8 Mile, in the fall of 2025 when they received reports of two men trafficking controlled substances.
During the investigation, police say they identified other suspects believed to be trafficking controlled substances within Georgina, Ont. and the surrounding areas.
Police conducted search warrants at homes in Georgina, Toronto and Vaughan on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, leading to the arrest of six suspects.
The following individuals have been charged: 38-year-old Jesse Miller, 38-year-old Sean Pain, 43-year-old Gary Macdonald, 31-year-old Usama Hamid, 40-year-old Timothy Persaud, and 31-year-old Kyle York.
Investigators say they seized one firearm, a crossbow, brass knuckles and various ammunition. They add they also seized more than $58,000 in cash, and drugs like cocaine, hydromorph-contin, methamphetamine, oxycocet, and MDMA with an approximate street value totalling $325,000.
The group has been charged with a total of 39 offences. While they all face varying charges, some of the offences include fraud, identity theft, and trafficking a controlled substance. Persaud faces a charge for breach of probation.
York Regional Police are asking anyone with additional information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
