Jeremy Ngakia’s stunning winner earned the Hornets a big three points at Ashton Gate, after Luca Kjerrumgaard’s early opener had been equalised by Scott Twine.
Still had been encouraged by his side’s reaction to the 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town on Tuesday, feeling it proved there was still a determination inside the dressing room.
And he highlighted the “hunger and desire” his team showed on Friday night in what was a relatively even match, with Ngakia’s winner the moment of quality they needed to take the points.
The head coach said: “It struck me after the Ipswich game to see how disappointed the whole dressing room was after losing at home to Ipswich.
“To see that everybody was gutted at having lost that was something I fed off.
“The most important thing beyond anything else this evening was the energy the players found and the heart they put into it. I think everybody saw that.
“The commitment that’s gone into the performance was great and then we forced a little bit of luck at the end.
“A wonder goal like that doesn’t just fall from the sky and they’ve had a couple of chances where on another day it might be a draw.
“We’re not getting ahead of ourselves but it does feel special. I’m so pleased and proud of the dressing room.
“They’re coming together and starting to believe in each other. Hopefully the fans can feel that and feed off that. We want to give them that vibe, that we’re going to go at every game, wherever it is.”

Ngakia stole the headlines after a stunning strike into the top corner that earned him the plaudits of his team-mates.
Still said: “I’ve seen too many of those fly over or out of the stand, but it was brilliant.
“What a worldie, what a goal. And he deserves it because he’s one of the players who has had better seasons. He deserves it for his work, his professionalism.
“He’s starting to build confidence in his body after a tricky period of injuries and niggles, so I’m delighted for him.
“It was great because his team-mates are really delighted for him as well.
“He’s a great guy.”
