A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a man at a house in The Meadows.

Nottinghamshire Police says emergency services were called to Ryeland Gardens, off Robin Hood Way, at around 5.30am on Saturday (February 28).

The force confirmed at around 1.30pm that a man was found with serious injuries at the property and was treated at the scene by paramedics, but died shortly afterwards.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Clare Gibson, of the major crime team at East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), said: “I can confirm a man died following an incident in The Meadows this morning and that someone has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.

“Our investigation is still in its early stages, but we are treating the man’s death as suspicious.

“We don’t currently believe there to be any threat to the wider public.

“We are working to understand exactly what happened inside this address, so there will be a significant police presence in the area while this takes place.

“As our investigation continues, we’d ask that anyone who saw or heard anything they think could be significant please shares this with us.

“Any piece of information, however small or insignificant it might seem, could really help us establish the full facts of this tragic incident.”

A huge police cordon has been set up, running from Robin Hood Way’s junction with Sheriffs Way/Wilford Grove up to its junction with Houseman Gardens.

On Sherriffs Way/Wilford Grove, the cordon runs from its junction with Willersley Drive to its junction with Kirkby Gardens.

Several footpaths and alleyways have also been taped off and several Nottinghamshire Police vehicles, including CSI units, are at the scene.
