Toronto police say they have arrested and charged two men following a demonstration protesting Canada’s ties to ICE in downtown Toronto late last week.
The rally against Bill C-12 was organized by Migrant Workers Alliance and took place outside Hootsuite’s offices at 200 Wellington St.
Toronto police said on Feb. 26 at about 12:45 p.m. they attended the area of Wellington Street West and Simcoe Street for a demonstration.
There, a man allegedly caused damage to a building and was arrested, they said.
During that arrest, a second man allegedly attempted to interfere and assaulted two police officers, said Toronto police.
Rong Cong, 20, of Toronto, has been charged with mischief – damage property under $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 20.
Syed Hussan, 41, also of Toronto, was charged with assault peace officer, assault with intent to resist arrest, and obstruct peace officer. He has an April 22 court date.
The charges have not been tested in court.
