A teenage boy and a man in his 20s have been arrested in connection with social media posts apparently urging pupils from rival schools to be violent towards one another.

They were arrested on Sunday by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of encouraging or assisting in a crime and have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Posts appearing on social media across London have shown schools being divided into red and blue, external and warn students to prepare for “war” using weapons. Some schools have stepped up security patrols amid a heightened police presence.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “A strong police presence remains around schools, particularly at the end of the school day.”
