Iran has warned that it is capable of an “intense war” for another six months. Ali Mohammad Naini, spokesman for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said Iran had so far used “first and second generation” missiles, but will use “advanced and less-used long-range missiles” in the coming days.

As Tehran continues retaliatory strikes on its neighbours including UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday said that his earlier remarks apologising to Gulf nations had been “misinterpreted by the enemy that seeks to sow division with neighbours.”

However, we are forced to retaliate to attacks but this does not mean we have a dispute with a (neighbouring) country or want to upset their people,” Pezeshkian said. This came after US President Donald Trump claimed in a post on Truth Social that Iran had “lost” and “surrendered to Middle East neighbours.”

Kuwait on Sunday said it intercepted three ballistic missiles, while Saudi Arabia downed three more drones near Riyadh.

On the other hand, an Israeli strike on a hotel in central Beirut killed at least four people and injured ten others on Sunday, as Israel said that it targeted Iranian commanders operating in the Lebanese capital.

US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff said that Iran had not seemed “very amenable” during negotiations before US and Israel launched strikes last week. “They told me and Jared, we’re not going to give you diplomatically what you couldn’t take militarily,” Witkoff said.
