The force has appealed for information and set up a Major Incident Public Portal for images, external, videos and information.
“We understand the concern, and our officers are linked in with key members of the community,” a force spokesperson added.
Adam Hicken, the council’s portfolio holder for enforcement and safe communities, said: “Attacks against people because of their race, religion or background are completely unacceptable.
“To see a child targeted in this way is deeply disturbing and frankly disgusting.
“We cannot sit in silence and pretend that targeted attacks are not happening. Our communities deserve better than that.
“The Sikhs are a proud community and an integral part of the fabric of Walsall. I know all of Walsall will be joining me in condemning any attacks of this nature.”
Hicken added the council was arranging for additional patrols and the installation of further CCTV in the area.
“I am reaching out to members of the Sikh community and local Gurdwaras over the coming days to ensure they have the support they need,” he stated.
Hate crime incidents can also be reported through Walsall Safe Spaces centres such as True Vision, Stop Hate UK and Crimestoppers.
