A 19-year-old woman was critically injured while crossing the intersection of Denison Street and Featherstone Avenue on Thursday afternoon.

Police have released video of a suspect vehicle wanted in a Markham hit-and-run, after a 19-year-old was carried on the hood of the vehicle for 50 metres and a suspect remains at-large nearly a month later.

Police were called to the intersection of Denison Street and Featherston Avenue, east of McCowan Road, shortly after 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 19.

The video, released by York Regional Police on Tuesday, shows a blue Honda Civic making a turn just as the pedestrian reaches the midway point of the intersection. The victim had the right of way as the walking signal appeared to be on.

Police release video of car wanted in Markham hit-and-run York Regional Police released footage of the car involved in a Markham hit-and-run where a teen was hit and carried on the hood of the car for 50 metres.

Police say they located the victim 50 metres east of the intersection and found various personal items belonging to her strewn across Denison up to Kuba Way.

“They would have known that they had struck somebody as they carried her for quite some time,” YRP Const. Lisa Moskaluk told reporters shortly after the incident.

Footage taken from eastbound Highlen Avenue at Fonda Road, sometime between 3:40 p.m. and 4 p.m., shows the sedan driving unsafely and running through a stop-controlled intersection.

Police say the woman was left with “life-altering injuries” and she remains at a local trauma centre in critical condition.

On Tuesday, York Regional Police described the suspect vehicle as an Aegean blue, four-door, 2016-2020 Honda Civic with winter tires.

Fleeing the scene makes you criminally liable for a serious offence,” officials wrote in a message directly to the driver. “We are urging you to seek legal advice and turn yourself in. Investigators remind the public that anyone who helps the suspect in hiding or repairing the vehicle to avoid being found is committing a criminal offence and may face charges.

Police add that this includes anyone who painted the car, arranged for any body work, or conducted mechanical repairs to conceal the damage caused in the collision.
