This intercom has been around for some time, and as such, we have reviewed it a couple of times over the years, giving it four stars twice. It has sound by JBL, updates over an app and connects to up to four riders with Bluetooth.

Like the others, this will trickle and desulfurise, but won’t do Gel batteries. It also has fewer features than the others, and the lower amperage means it’ll take a bit longer to do its job. This is about as low a price as it’s been over the last year or so too.

This torque wrench from Draper is reversible and works between 30Nm and 210Nm and clicks when the correct torque has been achieved. Housed in a solid case with an overall length of 475mm. Ideal for wheel nuts and so on, when precision counts.

This high-definition wireless camera from Blink is wireless and works outside. Featuring a two year battery life, motion detection, Alexa compatibility and is IP65 waterproof rated. Streams clearly in day or night and has two way audio. Ideal for keeping an eye on the shed or garage.

This wide angle 2K camera is wireless so there is no need for wiring. Ideal for mounting to overlook your garage r shed to keep an eye on your bike. With low light and daytime video capabilities and two way audio function. A quick release battery back makes battery changes quick and painless. This unit connects to Alexa products.

With no external certification and a spindly-looking locking pin, we can only take their word on its security prowess. But Ben Clarke did test it for 3 months and found the alarm genuinely “ear-splitting”. So even if it won’t hold up to much of a hammering, at least people will hear its distress.

These bike covers from the little-known American brand Favoto often drop to silly prices in Amazon sale events, and this one is no exception. it measures 2451mm x 1041mm x 1270mm. It’s got reinforced locking loops, reflective panels and is made from a stretchy material.

This High-Density Polyethylene shed is reinforced with steel at the roof. At seven foot by nine and half foot it could be an ideal alternative for thosenot fortunate enough to have a garage for their bike. Touring and camping

This lightweight camping mat has an integrated pillow pad and is inflatable so that it packs down nice and small and weighs less than a kilo. Ideal for strapping to the back of your bike and heading off on a tour. Available in single or double and in three colours.

This tow man tent is designed to be ultra lightweight and pack down small enough to go anywhere with you. At 2.3kg and 18 x 18 x57cm once packed down it should fit nicely on the back of a bike your next big ride.

Books

Written by serial tourer Colette Coleman, this book is full of images, over 200 images in fact. A commentary from Coleman accompanies said images, which keeps things well in context. Each tour has a map and a little fact file to help you pick a route from the pictures that inspire the most.

This handy, map-pocketable, spiral-bound book has 82 routes from around Britain. This is the third edition of Simon Weir’s guide, so they must be doing something right. It’s formatted to be easily legible mid-ride, covers the greats like the NC 500 and includes practical advice on packing for the trips within.

A to Z have beaten the AA by 18 routs, this one having 100. It’s spiral-bound, has easy-to-follow directions from a map pocket, and a detailed map of the routes with tips along the way. Simon Weir’s put this one together, too. P.S. It says Britain, but it also covers some routes in Northern Ireland.

It turns out that at some point, Simon Weir decided there was more touring to be had beyond the UK; here are his top 100 scenic routes from around Europe. Laid out similarly to the Britain edition, this one is riddled with handy tips and personal anecdotes from Weir.

One of the quintessential motorcycle tour journals of the 1970s. Ted Simon rode thousands of miles, over four years, through 54 countries, and wrote about it. If you haven’t read it and like this sort of thing, it’s highly recommended.

Elspeth Beard’s strangely haunting and ultimately tragic story of her round-the-world trip in the early ’80s. An adventure story wrapped in the horrors, class prejudice and pressures can produce.

The classic London to New York trip watched by millions in the naughties, but in written form. It benefits from the riders’ internal insights from their travels. Definitely worth a read if you loved the programme.

The book from second instalment of the well-thought-of television programme. It’s got all the characters you know and love from the first: Charley, Ewan, Russ, and slightly larger GS1200s, in an all-new, African setting.

More of an autobiography of a biker than anything else. This one follows Charley Boorman’s life and all the biking nonsense that goes with it. If you think you might miss Ewan in this one, not to worry, he’s written a forward for it.

Misc

Our Justin Hayzelden tested these a couple of years ago and loved them, giving them five stars. He found them easy to insert into his lug holes and comfortable for even massive rides. You can use them at least 100 times before needing to think about replacing them, and they are washable.

This 1:8 scale model of the Ninja H2R sold out pretty quick when it was released and remains popular, with even the supercharger integrated into the design. With moving steering, suspension, gearbox and engine parts, it’s really detailed and intricate to build. Hours of fun.

This bag of 200 foam earplugs is ideal for those who like a disposable earplug when riding. With a sound reduction of 35dB, they are plenty good enough to block out harmful wind and engine drone.
