Toronto police say a man has been arrested following a hate-motivated criminal harassment investigation that involved “racist and antisemitic remarks.”

Authorities allege that between Feb. 28 and March 6, the accused engaged in a pattern of harassing behaviour targeting the complainant.

Police say the accused attended the complainant’s residence on two separate occasions, banging on the door while making racist remarks.

Investigators further allege the accused returned a third time, where he stood outside the residence and played a speech by Adolf Hitler on his cellphone.

As a result, 27-year-old Rostam Rashidkhani, of Toronto, has been charged with:

Two counts of criminal harassmentTwo counts of mischief – interfere with the lawful enjoyment of propertyOne count of causing a disturbance

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice on Monday.

Police say the investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence by the Hate Crime Unit.
