In the first two barrages launched at Israel from Iran last June, about 100 ballistic missiles and swarms of drones were fired. Although attacks of a similar scale had already been seen in April 2024 and again in October 2024, the Israeli home front was gripped by panic. Numerous impact sites during that war – some of them at military installations – and the 33 fatalities caused by the attacks confirmed public fears. In total, the military estimates that Iran launched about 550 missiles toward Israel over the 12 days of fighting.
