A woman in her 80s was taken to hospital after she was allegedly stabbed by a stranger with a pair of scissors.

Th incident happened outside a home in The Chase, Chatham, shortly after 2pm yesterday and police soon arrested a man and later charged him.

Officers were called to reports the pensioner was attacked with the scissors at 2.07pm on Saturday (March 14) and attended alongside paramedics, who treated the woman in her 80s for her stab wounds.

She was taken to a London Hospital for further treatment and her injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.

Another man was also allegedly assaulted by the stranger before he was located and arrested at 2.31pm.

Orlando Foster, 25, has been charged with wounding with intent, causing actual bodily harm and making threats with a bladed weapon in public.

Foster, of Jeffery Street, Gillingham, was remanded in custody until his first appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (March 16).

In response to this incident, increased patrols will be present in the area and inquiries are continuing into the circumstances, however, officers say it’s believe to be an isolated incident.
