Toronto is welcoming the first day of spring with snow and ice pellets.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the city and parts of the Greater Toronto Area, advising of a “wintry mix” on Friday.
“There may be an impact on rush hour traffic. Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow or ice pellets. There is risk of injury due to slips and falls,” Environment Canada said.
The national weather agency notes that two to five centimetres of snow or ice pellets are possible from early morning to early afternoon.
Spring officially starts on Friday at 10:45 a.m. EDT.
The daytime high on Friday is 10 C with a wind chill of -7 in the morning.
It will be a mix of sun and cloud on Saturday with a high of 7 C. Sunday will see showers and a high of 6 C.
