Haas has given a health update on Oliver Bearman following a 50G accident in the Japanese Grand Prix.
On Lap 21, Bearman crashed heavily at Spoon curve after being caught out by the closing speeds as he came up behind Alpine’s Franco Colapinto.
The Haas was forced to dive across the grass, taking out the brake marker boards, before slamming into the barrier broadside.
Bearman was able to climb from the car, but was seen limping as marshals attended to him, with the source of the pain being his right leg and ankle.Â
Following a trip to the medical centre, Haas provided an update on the condition of the Briton.Â
“Update on Bearman. 50G impact – has had an X-ray at Medical Centre,” a team spokesman confirmed.
“No fractures – a right knee contusion following the impact.”
Bearman was also described as “alert and communicating.”
He was subsequently cleared and released from the medical centre.
