Hull FC’s James Bell runs in open field against Catalans Dragons.
Hull FC had to withstand a late Catalans Dragons comeback at the MKM Stadium to claim a hard-fought 24-20 victory for their first back-to-back wins of the season.
Here are our player ratings.
Logan Moy – 8: Marked his first appearance of the year with a try, and was strong at full-back all afternoon.
Tom Briscoe – 8: A couple of strong moments in defence, including two huge plays against his opposite winger. But Leo Farrelatour went on to score a brace down his edge, though not all Briscoe’s fault.
Arthur Romano – 8: Opened the scoring against his former club inside five minutes, and remained dangerous with a couple of crucial moments.
Davy Litten – 8: Dangerous every time he touched the ball.
Lewis Martin – 7: Enjoyed his fourth try of the season, extending Hull’s advantage after 12 minutes.
Zak Hardaker – 9: The official player of the match, and Hull needed his experience. Executed a brilliant 40/20 to relieve pressure in the second half, and kicked four goals from five attempts.
Jake Arthur – 7: His first half up there for an eight, mixing his game up well. Catalans struggled with his kicks in the first half, while also taking on the line and offering short passes. Faded away in the second half, when last plays needed to be better.
Ligi Sao – 8: Laid a solid starting platform on his 100th Super League appearance.
Amir Bourouh – 8: Defensively sound in the middle with long minutes.
Harvie Hill – 8: An opening 24 minute stint, and a couple of huge hits from the middle.
James Bell – 9: Among Hull’s best, from try involvements and linebreaks, to huge tackles and forcing errors. An impressive afternoon from the hard-hitting back-rower.
Connor Bailey – 7: Offered some good lines at back-row.
John Asiata – 7: Took a lot of carries to help his side, alongside a kicking game – not all good, but a crucial one towards the end under pressure to win a drop-out.
Sam Lisone – 7: Talk about making an entrance. Straight onto the field, the interchange prop scored with his first touch after crashing through four defenders.
Brad Fash – 7: Introduced midway through first half and did a good job.
Matty Laidlaw – 7: Into the action in the second half and offered some strong carries.
Callum Kemp – 7: All the momentum was with Catalans upon his entrance, so had to do it tough.
