The man who died in hospital after being found unresponsive at the scene of an incident in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, on Wednesday night, has been named locally.

John (Jaffa) Hogan died in hospital after he was found unresponsive at the scene of the incident on the Old Dublin Road shortly after 10.10pm.

He received medical treatment before being brought to University Hospital Limerick, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Mr Hogan was a highly respected man from Nenagh, said Cllr Seamus Morris.

“He was a larger than life character. He was a big Toomevara GAA supporter and he was very much part of the agricultural contractor community,” Cllr Morris added.

There was a sense of shock in Nenagh as Mr Hogan was a young man, and has family in the area.

The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The scene was preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have any information regarding the incident to come forward.

Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, who were travelling in the Nenagh, Co Tipperary area between 9pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday, August 6 are asked to share this material with gardaí.
