Two football clubs have paid tribute to Paul Pike after a body was found in the search for the Birmingham City fan, who went missing during the side’s fixture against Derby County at Pride Park.

Mr Pike, from Birmingham, was reported missing on March 21 after travelling to Derby to attend the Championship fixture at Pride Park.

The 18-year-old was last seen outside the stadium at around 12.40pm on March 21, with his disappearance prompting searches by police and volunteer teams across Pride Park and the nearby riverside path, where some of his belongings were found.

On Sunday (March 29), police confirmed they had found a body thought to be that of Paul Pike’s.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, Paul’s family has been made aware.

Derby County Football Club has now released a statement expressing condolences to Paul’s family and thanking supporters for their efforts.

A club spokesperson said: “Everyone at Derby County Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Birmingham City supporter Paul Pike.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Paul’s family, friends, and all connected with Birmingham City Football Club.

“Our thoughts are with them as they come to terms with their loss.

“The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to the Derby County supporters who joined the search efforts over the past week.

“Their compassion and willingness to help in such difficult circumstances were a credit to our club and the wider football family.

“At moments like this, the game comes together to show its true spirit, and we stand alongside Birmingham City in mourning the loss of one of their own. Rest in peace, Paul.”

A spokesperson for Birmingham City FC added: “Everyone at the Club is deeply saddened by today’s news about one of our own, Paul Pike.

“We are grateful to all those—both in Derby and back here in Birmingham—who gave their time and support during the search in recent days, including both West Midlands and Derbyshire Police, who have been working tirelessly in the background.

“The compassion shown reflects the very best of our footballing community.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with Paul’s family, friends, and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.”
