The New York International Auto Show, one of the most prominent and important auto shows in North America, is underway in the Big Apple. While automakers are revealing many buzzworthy vehicles, here are five of our favorites garnering most of the attention.

Subaru’s all-new Getaway electric three-row SUV is at the top of our buzzworthy list. And if you think the Getaway looks like the all-new Toyota Highlander electric SUV, you’re not alone. That’s because this Subaru EV came to life in partnership with Toyota. The Getaway has Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system and dual electric motors that deliver 420 horsepower and 480 kilometres of electric range. It’s the fourth EV in Subaru’s family and it’s designed to go head-to-head against the growing competition in the mainstream electric three-row SUV space from players such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq9 and its new cousin, the Toyota Highlander. The 2027 Subaru Getaway goes on sale late in 2026.

No auto show is complete without a mind-blowing hypercar to steal the spotlight. While there were a few to chose from, this stunning Aurora Agil hypercar from the Danish supercar company Zenvo Automotive was our favorite. Not only is its body beautiful, aggressive and aerodynamic with clean, sculpted curves, it’s also lightweight and powerful. The heart of this beast is a quad-turbo 6.6-litre V12 hybrid electric powertrain that delivers a whopping 1,850 horsepower. It is the most powerful V12 engine in a production road car.

Nissan’s iconic sportscar gets better for 2027 with this gorgeous, track-ready Z NISMO. The best feature on it is a new six-speed manual transmission – a welcome addition for NISMO fans. The performance-based coupe also has GT‑R inspired brakes and 420 horsepower. The mid-lifecycle refresh doesn’t shy away from its roots. The sexy two-door coupe still remains instantly recognizable with its front lights that resemble tear-drop-shaped eyes, sleek lines and a stunning blue hue adorned with vibrant red accents.

The 2027 Infiniti QX65 SUV is stirring up excitement at the entrance of the NYIAS, but it’s not just because it’s a new nameplate for the Japanese automaker. This vibrant and deep red colour, called Sunfire Red, is the signature debut colour on the all-new QX65.

Inspired by a fiery morning sunrise, look closer and you’ll spot another neat feature – gold-coated glass flecks infused in the paint. And its not imitation – it’s real gold that sparkles differently depending on the lighting, viewing angle and time of day. Manufacturing real gold has its challenges including heightened security. That’s why Infiniti suppliers in the United States used armored trucks to transport the gold used in the paint. The QX65 concept was revealed at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto in February, but this is the official production model.

Sure, a minivan might not be the obvious pick for a buzzworthy list, but this refreshed 2027 Chrysler Pacifica minivan deserves a shoutout because it’s made in Canada, rolling off the line in Windsor. Available with seven- or eight-passenger seating, the Pacifica gets updated exterior tweaks including new wheel options and exterior colours, more technology and extra standard features such as an adjustable-height power liftgate.

The best part are the Stow ‘n Go seats – the second and third row seats fold easily into the floor, creating a nice, flat floor. Another cool feature is the FamCam interior camera that provides a split-screen view of rear-seat passengers, including a zoom-to-seat function that allows parents to see a rear-facing child seat. While there is an additional rear-view mirror above the regular one that better shows back-seat passengers, the FamCam camera is shown on the centre screen. It arrives in dealerships this summer, starting at $41,495 for the new base LX trim, plus freight and pre-delivery inspection.
