Two people were taken to hospital Friday evening after a fire at a Spryfield, N.S., apartment building.

District fire Chief Dennis Pitts said crews were called to the three-storey building on Enid Avenue around 9:30 p.m. AT.

He said two occupants from the unit where the fire broke out were trapped inside. Pitts said firefighters got them out and they were taken to hospital. Their condition is not known.

Pitts said firefighters quickly put the fire out, limiting it to the one unit.

He said there’s smoke damage throughout the building.
