The Dragons are through to the quarter-finals of the EPCR Challenge Cup after a sensational 36-31 victory over Stade Francais in Paris.

Filo Tiatia’s side will face the winner of Pau v Zebre away from home in the quarter-finals of the EPCR Challenge Cup, but on the evidence of today’s performance they will fancy their chances of reaching the last four.

Tries from Angus O’Brien, Brodie Coghlan, Chris Coleman, Elliot Dee and Jones helped seal a famous victory. O’Brien and Tinus de Beer also contributed 11 points from the kicking tee.

Here are the Dragons player ratings.

15. Angus O’Brien 8

The Dragons full-back put in a fine all-round performance.

His kicking out of hand was excellent as usual, and he also gave the Dragons an extra playmaking option in the back three.

He hit a tremendous angle to score his side’s opening try and, while there was the odd error, the positives by far outweighed the negatives.

14. David Richards 8

Last season Richards was trying to sell tickets as part of the Dragons commercial team and today he played a pivotal role in a famous victory over Top 14 high-flyers Stade Francais.

Richards always made metres with ball in hand and was excellent under the high ball, with the Dragons winning the aerial battle hands down.

13. Fine Inisi 8

The Tonga international carried well and made those all-important post-contact metres.

Inisi got the better of his opposite number and gave the Dragons a very physical edge in midfield which has been lacking in recent seasons.

12. Aneurin Owen 8

The 25-year-old stood up defensively and carried the ball well.

He helped the Dragons get over the gain-line, his distribution was excellent and Owen had a hand in Angus O’Brien’s opening try.

11. Rio Dyer 7

The Wales wing was strong both under the high ball and in defence, while he looked a threat with ball in hand.

A solid performance.

10. Tinus de Beer 8

The South African got his backline moving and kicked very well out of hand.

He also stood up well defensively to the powerful runners Stade Francais sent down his channel.

9. Niall Armstrong 7

The 26-year-old Irishman’s service was slick as he provided clean ball for his outside-half.

Armstrong kicked well out of hand and managed the game well.

8. Aaron Wainwright 9 (Star man)

Another huge performance from the Wales star, who carried extremely well to put his side on the front foot.

Wainwright also made 13 tackles and there were some key interventions in defence when the Dragons were under pressure.

7. Thomas Young 8

The 33-year-old was everywhere, making 14 tackles and winning a few key turnovers to relieve pressure on the Dragons.

Young was also very prominent with ball in hand, especially in the wide channels, while he also put pressure on Stade at the breakdown.

A fine all-round performance, and Steve Tandy could do a lot worse than consider the Dragons openside for Wales.

6. Ryan Woodman 8

The former Wales U20s captain put in a big shift, making 15 tackles, and was very prominent around the park.

Woodman played a big part in the Dragons’ lineout running smoothly and stole two Stade lineouts when the Welsh club were under pressure.

5. Ben Carter 8

The Wales lock was excellent as he dominated the lineouts and was a huge physical presence throughout the game.

Carter made 19 tackles and led from the front.

4. Levi Douglas 6

He only lasted 21 minutes after leaving the game with a head knock, but made a big impression in that time with a series of powerful carries.

3. Chris Coleman 8

The Wales international was excellent. Coleman scrummaged very well and put in a big shift around the park with 14 tackles.

He also claimed a well-deserved try.

2. Brodie Coghlan 8

This was a big performance from the Dragons hooker, who ensured the lineout ran smoothly while he put in 15 tackles and carried well.

He also claimed a try in the first half.

1. Rodrigo Martinez 8

The Argentinian international was excellent.

Martinez played his part in a powerful scrummaging effort, while he also finished the game as the top tackler with 21.

He also made a few strong carries, including a linebreak in the first half.

Replacements

16. Elliot Dee 8

The experienced Wales hooker made a huge impact around the park and claimed a try for his side.

17. Wyn Jones 8

The former Wales and Lions prop claimed the match-winning try at the death.

18. Owain James 7

James worked hard around the park as his side fought their way to a famous win.

19. Seb Davies 8

Davies carried well and went through a lot of work after replacing Levi Douglas early on.

20. Harrison Keddie 8

Keddie made a big impact with his break up the touchline and excellent inside pass creating the match-winning try.

21. Morgan Lloyd 7

Lloyd looked a threat with ball in hand and came close to the match-winning try himself when he was brought down just short of the line.

22. Fetuli Paea 7

He punched some holes in the Stade Francais defence with his explosive carrying.

23. Huw Anderson N/A

Not enough time on the field to give Anderson a mark.
