Lady Gaga cancelled her final Montreal show Monday evening, citing a worsening respiratory infection, just hours before she was due to perform to a sold-out crowd.
The singer announced the decision in a message posted on Instagram shortly after 5 p.m.
“I’m so sorry to share that I’m unable to perform tonight and have to cancel the show,” the singer wrote in all capital letters.
She said she had been “fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days,” but that her condition had deteriorated.

“My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today and, to be honest, I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve,” she wrote.
The cancellation came after two performances on Thursday and Friday, which she described as “magical and deeply meaningful.”
Fans had been expected to fill the venue again Monday night for the final show of her Montreal stop.
“I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down. I’m so sorry to everyone who made plans to be there and support me.
“To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.”
Automatic refunds will be given if the ticket was purchased via credit card, a press release following the cancellation said, noting that refunds can take up to 30 days to be processed.
Fans who purchased their tickets in person are advised to contact info@evenko.ca to receive their refund, the press release said.
