A teenager has been taken to hospital after a stabbing near the Royal Albert Dock. Emergency services were called at around 7.55pm following reports a 15-year-old boy had been assaulted close to the currently closed Tate museum.
Merseyside Police said he suffered a puncture wound to his arm and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. When the ECHO arrived at the scene, a cordon had been put in place on the Swing Bridge.
Multiple police vehicles and two ambulances were also in attendance. There was also a blood-splattered bench near the cordon. A staff member at Buco Turkish BBQ Street Food said the incident appeared to take place shortly before 8pm.
He said: “It happened at about 8pm. I think it was a fight between a group of boys. One of them, aged around 16, came to my truck. His arm was covered in blood. I gave him some water. I don’t know if he was stabbed or if it was just a serious fight.”
An investigation is ongoing, with officers carrying out witness enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage in the area.
