Donald Trump tonight cast doubt on the effectiveness of the ceasefire that has halted the Iran war.

‘Iran is doing a very poor job, dishonorable some would say, of allowing Oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz,’ he wrote on his social media site Thursday evening. ‘That is not the agreement we have!’

The post came after Trump posted earlier that ‘There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait – They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now!’

The White House supports reopening the strait as part of the ceasefire deal, but says that Trump opposes Iran’s military, which continues to control the waterway, from seeking to raise revenue by charging tolls on passing ships.

The strait that Iran has effectively shut since the US-Israeli war began on February 28 remains closed, with access still being restricted, contained and controlled.

It also comes after Iran’s new supreme leader released a statement demanding ‘blood money’ from the US and Israel after denouncing them as ‘criminal aggressors’.

In a message attributed to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, he told the Iranian people: ‘By the grace of God, we will certainly not let go of the criminal aggressors who attacked our country.

‘We will undoubtedly demand compensation for every single damage inflicted, the blood money of the martyrs, and the diyah of the war-wounded.’

Khamenei – who has not been seen in public since he took over from his father – also warned the regime would ‘take the management of the Strait of Hormuz into a new phase’ amid rising tensions over how the vital shipping lane will be controlled.

He called on pro-Iranian protesters to take to the streets because ‘your voices raised in public squares have an impact on the outcome of negotiations.’

Khamenei demands ‘blood money’ from US and Israel

In his statement, Khamenei demanded ‘blood money’ from the US and Israel and denounced them as ‘criminal aggressors’.

‘By the grace of God, we will certainly not let go of the criminal aggressors who attacked our country,’ the statement read.

‘We will undoubtedly demand compensation for every single damage inflicted, the blood money of the martyrs, and the diyah of the war-wounded.’

Diyah is an arabic word referring to the financial compensation paid to victims or heirs of a victim in Islamic law.

Former Iranian foreign minister dies from injuries sustained in airstrike

Iran’s former Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi has died from his injuries sustained during a US-Israeli strike earlier this month, Iranian state media has reported.

Kharrazi held the role from 1997 to 2005, and also served as head of Iran’s Council on Foreign Relations, and as an adviser to the country’s late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Iranian media had previously reported that he had been critically injured following an airstrike earlier this month that killed his wife.

In 2022, he told news outlet Al Jazeera that Tehran has ‘the technical means to produce a nuclear bomb, but there has been no decision by Iran to build one,’ sparking concern about Tehran’s intentions.

WHO urges Israel to avoid striking hospitals and shelters in Lebanon

The World Health Organisation has urged Israel to reverse an evacuation order for Beirut’s Jnah area, where two major hospitals are operating at full capacity following deadly Israeli strikes.

‘At this time, no alternative medical facilities are available to receive approximately 450 patients from the two hospitals (including 40 patients in the ICU), rendering their evacuation operationally unfeasible,’ WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a statement.

Patients at both hospitals include those injured in yesterday’s strikes by Israel, according to Ghebreyesus.

The area also includes five shelters, where more than 5,000 people are seeking refuge.

‘I urge Israel to reverse this order and ensure the protection of all health facilities, health workers, patients and civilians,’ he added.

Trump attacks right-wing commentators who oppose Iran war

Donald Trump has lashed out at multiple well-known conservative commentators who have criticised his war against Iran, slamming his onetime allies as attention-seeking ‘NUT JOBS.’

‘They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too!’ Trump wrote in a nearly 500-word social media post.

In the president’s crosshairs were Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly – two former Fox News hosts turned independent podcasters – as well as Candace Owens and Alex Jones, also podcasters and prominent conspiracy theorists.

All four have vocally criticised Trump over the war, slamming him for abandoning his anti-war campaign promises.

‘They don’t have what it takes, and they never did! They’ve all been thrown off Television, lost their Shows, and aren’t even invited on TV because nobody cares about them, they’re NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS, and will say anything necessary for some ‘free’ and cheap publicity,’ he vented.

Trump says Iran is doing a ‘very poor job’ at allowing oil through the Strait of Hormuz

Trump has attacked Iran on his Truth Social platform again, saying: ‘Iran is doing a very poor job, dishonourable, some would say, of allowing Oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz.’

‘That is not the agreement we have!,’ the US president added.

Israel’s military said on Friday that Hezbollah had launched a missile at Israel, triggering air raid sirens in parts of the country, including in Tel Aviv.

Hezbollah said it targeted ‘Israeli military’ infrastructure in the northern city of Haifa in the late hours of Thursday.

IRGC says it has not launched any missiles during ceassefire

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has said that Iran’s armed forces have ‘not launched any missiles at any country during the ceasefire hours up to this time’, in a statement reported by Iran’s Fars news agency.

The statement was a response to reports that a drone struck a Kuwait National Guard facility.

‘If these reports published by the media are true, it is undoubtedly the work of the Zionist enemy or America,’ the IRGC said.

It added that Iran’s armed forces ‘boldly announce’ if they ‘hit any target’.

US summons Iraq envoy over attacks by Iran-backed groups

The US State Department said it had summoned Iraq’s ambassador on Thursday to condemn the ‘egregious terrorist attacks’ by Iran-backed armed groups on American interests in Iraq.

The United States ‘will not tolerate attacks on US interests and expects the Iraqi government to immediately take all measures to dismantle the Iran-aligned militia groups in Iraq,’ spokesman Tommy Pigott said in a statement.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau summoned Iraqi Ambassador Nazar Al-Khirullah and expressed the US government’s ‘strong condemnation’ of the attacks, ‘including the April 8 ambush of US diplomats in Baghdad,’ Pigott said.

He did not provide any details about the alleged ambush.

Iraq was dragged into the war between the United States, Israel and Iran, with strikes repeatedly targeting both US interests – especially the embassy in Baghdad – and pro-Iranian groups in the country.

Pro-Iranian armed groups announced on Wednesday that they would suspend their attacks for two weeks, following the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

‘While acknowledging the efforts of Iraqi Security Forces to respond to these terrorist attacks, the Deputy Secretary emphasised the Iraqi government’s failure to prevent these attacks,’ Pigott said.

Iran’s exiled crown prince says Starmer needs to ‘be like Churchill, not Chamberlain’

The exiled crown prince of Iran Reza Pahlavi has blasted Sir Keir Starmer, saying the UK Prime Minister has ‘failed to act’ to stop Iran’s ‘massacre of 40,000 innocent Iranians’ in January.

‘Only an end to this regime – that brings terror to Britain’s own shores – will yield lasting peace and regional stability,’ Pahlavi said in an X post tonight.

‘Keir Starmer should follow in the footsteps of Churchill, not Chamberlain. He should support the Iranian people’s fight for liberty.’

His remarks come after the PM welcomed the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran yesterday.

Kuwait has accused Iran and its proxies of launching a drone attack that targeted its National Guard, ‘causing significant damage, without wounding anyone’.

Iran has not claimed responsibility for the strike, which marks the first attack reported in the Gulf on Thursday as the ceasefire between Iran and the US and Israel entered its second day.

The Kuwait army had earlier said that its air defences were ‘currently facing hostile drone attacks that have penetrated the country’s airspace, targeting several vital installations’.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement the ‘heinous attacks launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies’ were a ‘flagrent violation’ of the country’s airspace and a ‘blatant breach of international law’.

They also ‘undermine’ the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran and ‘constitutes a blatant challenge to the international community’.

Emergency workers look for survivors at site of Israeli strike

First responders have been looking for survivors at the site of an Israeli airstrike that targeted the southern Lebanese village of Choukine.

Photos show a number of emergency workers searching through piles of debris from destroyed buildings as fires rage on around them.

Earlier Israel announced it would be targeting Hezbollah affiliated sites in the south of the country.
