The Philadelphia Flyers announced the signing of Jack Berglund, their second-round pick from 2024. He had 12 points in 40 games as a 19-year-old in the Swedish league and will report to the Flyers’ AHL affiliate to begin. He won’t have fantasy relevance this season but certainly a good sign for his future that the team decided to offer him the three-year entry-level deal.

The Minnesota Wild signed prospect Viking Gustafsson Nyberg to a two-year contract, tweeted Michael Russo. The first year of his deal will be burned this season, so he will be an RFA next year. He is ineligible for playoffs but can play regular season games.
*
Luke Hughes has been shut down for the rest of the season, according to the New Jersey Devils, as he’s set to undergo a procedure to fix a lingering issue. He finishes his third season with 35 points in 68 games, totaling 2.2 shots per game, which is a career-best mark. Simon Nemec assumed top PP duties for the game on Thursday night.

Thomas Chabot returned to the lineup for the Ottawa Senators fewer than three weeks after J.T. Miller broke his arm with a cross-check.
*
Seth Jones suffered a broken foot and will be out for the rest of the season. That puts a cap on what has been an absurd season of injuries for the Florida Panthers.

An update on Colorado’s Nazem Kadri:
Kadri “will miss some games” but Jared Bednar said the plan is to get him in at least one more regular season game.
— Jesse Montano (@jessemontano_) April 9, 2026
That might end Kadri’s regular season even if there is hope to get him in for one game. In the meantime, Gabriel Landeskog was moved up to Colorado’s top PP unit for Thursday night’s game.
Montano also tweeted that Cale Makar was practicing in a non-contact jersey on Thursday. A good step forward as he looks to return from injury before the end of the season.

In Pete DeBoer’s first game behind the bench for the New York Islanders, his team earned a much-needed win over Toronto by a 5-3 margin. The score made the game seem more flattering than it was as the Islanders outshot Toronto 44-15.
Matthew Schaefer scored his 23rd goal of the season, leaving him one point shy of 60 as an 18-year-old rookie defenceman. We have run out of superlatives for what he’s done and keeps doing. Teammate Calum Ritchie posted a goal on four shots while adding an assist and two PIMs in a solid multi-cat night.
Easton Cowan scored in the loss for the Leafs, giving him two goals and five points in his last five games.
Leafs goalie Artur Akhtyamov stopped 39 of the 44 shots he faced in his first career start.
*
Egor Chinakhov managed a goal and two assists in Pittsburgh’s 5-2 win over New Jersey. That win locks up Pittsburgh’s playoff spot, and now it’s just a matter of which team they’ll face in the first round.
Erik Karlsson kept his hot streak going with a goal and an assist. Since returning from the Olympic break, he has 31 points in 23 games as he’s been the reason why the Penguins have been able to stay in the position they have over the last six weeks. Evgeni Malkin also had a goal and an assist in the win.
Pittsburgh goalie Stuart Skinner stopped 19 of 21 shots in the win.

Ottawa earned a big win on Thursday night, downing the Florida Panthers 5-1. In Chabot’s return to the lineup, he skated 21:16 and was held without a point, but just being back on the roster is a big enough deal.
Fabian Zetterlund scored twice for the Sens, his second straight game with a goal and third straight game with a point. It gives him 16 goals and 31 points on the season, not bad work for a guy averaging under 13 minutes a game.
Artem Zub had a big multi-cat night with one goal on four shots and adding a pair of blocks.
Linus Ullmark earned his 27th win by holding the Panthers to one goal on 22 shots.
*
The Buffalo Sabres continued their bid for a division title thanks to a 5-0 win at home to Columbus. Josh Doan scored twice on four shots and that pushes him to 25 goals as his career year, and his breakout season, continue.
Rasmus Dahlin had a very good night on the blue line with one goal on three shots, adding a block and a hit along the way.
With Alex Lyon injured and the team on the second night of a back-to-back, Colten Ellis got the start and he stopped all 36 shots sent to his net for his first career shutout. It was just his 13th start of the season, but he has largely been solid when called upon for the Sabres.
*
Dylan Larkin had a hat trick on four shots, adding an assist on a Moritz Seider power play goal, as the Detroit Red Wings got a necessary win over the Philadelphia Flyers by a 6-3 margin. The Red Wings scored three PP goals in the game, one by Larkin, one by Seider, and one by Alex DeBrincat, his 40th goal of the year.
Seider had a monster fantasy night of his own with that goal, four assists, two PIMs, and two hits. Those five points give him 60 on the season, his first career 60-point campaign. He also reaches the 10-goal mark for the first time ever, too. He needs eight more shots to set a career-best in that regard as well.
Porter Martone‘s successful start to his career rolls on with a goal and an assist in the loss. He also had three total shots, two PIMs, and four hits in 19:46 of ice time. He has quickly become a trusted player for the Flyers.
Dan Vladar was pulled after giving up four goals on eight shots.
*
For the first time since 1990, a Montreal Canadiens player managed a 50-goal season as Cole Caufield reached that mark on Thursday night in the team’s 2-1 win at home against Tampa Bay. That gives him 18 goals and 30 points in 21 games since returning from the Olympic break.
Juraj Slafkovsky scored the game-winning goal with just over a minute left in the game, his 30th tally of the season, and the first time he cracked that plateau in his career. His assist on the Caufield goal also pushed him to the 70-point mark for the first time in his career.
Nick Suzuki assisted both goals and is two points shy of reaching 100.
Jakub Dobes turned aside 17 of the 18 shots he faced for his seventh win his last seven starts.
*

Connor Hellebuyck earned his 23rd win of the season by preventing 20 of 22 shots sent his way from entering his net.
Dylan Holloway had a goal on two shots, and assist on a Colton Parayko goal, and added a hit in the loss. He is up to 28 points in 21 games since returning from injury after the Olympic break.

The Carolina Hurricanes rested a slew of players, including the entire top line and Jaccob Slavin, but still whooped the Chicago Blackhawks 7-2. Logan Stankoven posted two goals on two shots, adding an assist on a goal from Taylor Hall, plus a block. Those two goals push Stankoven over the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career and he now has 10 goals, 4 assists, and 39 shots in his last 16 games.
Mark Jankowski posted a pair of goals while K’Andre Miller and Sean Walker both scored. Miller is one goal of tying his career-high of nine set back in 2022-23.
Frederik Andersen stopped 23 of 25 shots for his 15th win.
Anton Frondell scored twice in the loss. He totaled five shots, a pair of blocks, and a hit in the game, and he’s up to 3 goals, 5 assists, 24 shots, 9 blocks, and 8 hits in 9 NHL games. That is a great start to his career.
*
In a first-round preview, the Dallas Stars beat the Minnesota Wild 5-4 thanks to a pair of third-period goals from Mikko Rantanen and Jason Robertson. Rantanen had a great multi-cat night with a goal, an assist, a block, two PIMs, and three hits.
Wyatt Johnston totaled a goal, an assist, three shots, and four PIMs in the victory. That assist gives him 40 on the year, providing him with his first-ever 40-40 season.
A pair of assists from Esa Lindell gives him his first career 25-assist season and pushes him to the 30-point plateau for the first time since 2018-19.
Kirill Kaprizov scored twice in the loss for the Wild. He had four shots and three hits in 23 minutes of ice time. Quinn Hughes had a solid multi-cat night with a goal, an assist, two shots, a block, and two PIMs in 31:51 of ice time. It is just the sixth time this season a player has surpassed the 31-minute mark in a regulation game, per Hockey Reference, and Hughes has four of them (the others are Matthew Schaefer and Jake Sanderson).
Miro Heiskanen was injured late in the first period and did not return.
*
Both Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas posted a goal and two assists in Colorado’s 3-1 win at home to Colorado. Necas now has 60 assists for the first time in his career, is two goals shy of his first 40-goal campaign, and needs two points for his first 100-point season.
MacKenzie Blackwood held Calgary to one goal on 29 shots for his 22nd win of the year. It also pushes his save percentage for the season back over .900 to .901.
Tyson Gross scored his first career NHL goal for Calgary.
*
Utah put a dent in Nashville’s playoff hopes as the Mammoth took a 4-1 win at home to the Predators. Both Dylan Guenther and Nick Schmaltz totaled a goal and an assist with Guenther registering three shots, a block, and two hits. That leaves Guenther one goal shy of his first career 40-goal effort and pushes him past the 70-point mark for the first time.
Logan Cooley assisted the PP goal from Schmaltz and a goal from Kailer Yamamoto. Those two helpers give Cooley a six-game point streak where he’s amassed 6 goals and 5 assists.
Karel Vejmelka kept Nashville to one goal on 30 shots for his 37th win of the season. That ties him with Andrei Vasilevskiy for first in the league and Vejmelka is also the first goal to reach 60 starts on the season. Juuse Saros is the only other goalie with enough team games remaining to potentially reach 60 starts (he has 58 with three games left).

Thanks to a 6-1 loss on in Anaheim on Thursday night, the San Jose Sharks are now four points back of the final Wild Card spot with four games remaining. Their slim playoff hopes are getting slimmer by the day.
John Carlson had the big game for the Ducks with a hat trick on three shots with a block. Two of those three goals came on the power play, which means 6 of his 12 points with Anaheim have come on the man advantage.
Troy Terry and Beckett Sennecke both totaled a pair assists in the win. Terry had six shots and two blocks while Sennecke had two shots, two PIMs, and two hits.
Lukas Dostal kept the Sharks to one goal on 19 shots for his 30th win of the season in his 53rd start. That is as many wins as he had in his previous 69 starts across the previous season and a half.

Two third-period goals from Seattle tied their game with Vegas 3-3 and the Kraken earned the shootout win and the extra point to take the game 4-3. Bobby McMann scored again for the Kraken and he now has 9 goals in 14 games with the team (13 points), totaling 40 shots and 24 hits in those 14 appearances. He has been everything they’ve needed since he came over at the Trade Deadline.
Joey Daccord stopped 31 of 34 pucks directed at his net for his 20th win of the season.
Mark Stone scored twice in the loss for Vegas, posting four shots, three blocks, and a hit along the way. He is up to 69 points, his highest total in a season since 2018-19 and the second-highest total of his career.
Adin Hill was solid in net for Vegas, holding the Kraken to three goals on 33 shots, but allowed one more than Daccord in the shootout for the loss.
*
Los Angeles won a game they needed to win, taking a 4-1 victory at home to Vancouver. Adrian Kempe scored twice on two shots, adding a block. Since the Olympic break, Kempe has 14 goals, 11 assists, 55 shots, 7 blocks, and 21 hits in 21 games. He has looked much more like himself with Artemi Panarin (who assisted both Kempe goals) on the other wing.
Brandt Clarke had a solid multi-cat night with an assist, a shot, and four blocks. That gives him 40 points on the season, the first time he’s ever reached that mark.
Anton Forsberg held the Canucks to one goal on 25 shots. He has a .912 save percentage since Christmas, compared to Darcy Kuemper‘s .870. If the Kings get to the postseason, it seems clear who the starter for Game 1 should be.
