Edmonton Public School Board told CityNews in a statement:
“Around 12:15 p.m. Jasper Place School was placed in a lockdown at the request of the Edmonton Police Service due to an incident inside the school involving injuries to a student. When a school is in lockdown, the doors are locked and students and staff remain quiet in their classrooms with the lights off. Students and staff were safe as the police worked to resolve the situation.
The Division takes incidents like this very seriously and the safety of students and staff is our top priority. Edmonton Police Service continues to investigate the situation.”
The school, along with several neighbouring schools, was placed under lockdown as a precaution.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to students or the public.
