Jaden Philogene’s controversial early penalty and George Hirst’s close range finish sealed a league double for Premier League-chasing Town, along with East Anglian bragging rights.

Clement was adamant Jack Taylor had ‘cheated’ to earn a penalty from Anis Ben Slimane. The Belgian was later booked which he confirmed will see him serve a touchline ban for the next league test at Bristol City.

“This is a player trying to cheat,” he said, speaking in his post-match media on the incident that saw Taylor drop to the floor. “Like he has been caught by a tackle, which was not the case. But he wins in this situation and so if you don’t have an objective view on these things more players will try to do this. This would never have been given as a penalty under VAR.

“I know the referee cannot always be in the right position to see everything but this why they need help. In football, too many games are decided by one or two moments. Those decisions need to be right.”

Clement spoke exclusively to the Pinkun at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.
