INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing after a car and home were damaged in the middle of the night in a Limerick residential area.
The incident occurred in Castleconnell, Limerick at approximately 1:30am this Friday, August 8.
A video of the incident, viewed by Limerick Live and timestamped as 1:39am on August 8, shows a group of four people wearing masks and hoods covering their faces approaching a car parked on the road outside a residential premises.
Members of the group were carrying what appeared to be axes, which they then used to cause damage to the vehicle.
One member of the group ran past the car, into the driveway and towards the front of the house, out of the frame of the video, while the other three went immediately to the vehicle.
That individual then returned to the side of the road and joined the rest of the group in causing damage to the car.
After a significant amount of damage had been caused to the car, it appeared to go on fire. It is not clear from the video what caused the flames.

The group then sped off in the car they arrived in, driven by another individual.
A spokesperson for An Garda SÃochána stated that gardaà received a report of an incident of criminal damage, in which a vehicle and domestic residence were reported as damaged.
They confirmed that no injuries have been reported, but added that investigations are ongoing.
The full statement reads: “Gardaà received a report of an incident of criminal damage that occurred this Friday, August 8, 2025 at approximately 1:30am in Castleconnell, Co Limerick.
“A vehicle and a domestic residence have been reported as damaged. No injuries have been reported at this time.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
