No trains will run in or out of Manchester Piccadilly until Friday morning due to an electrical fault.

Some connections were initially delayed by up to an hour following the fault with the overhead wires, National Rail said.

Network Rail later confirmed no connections would run in or out of the station until 07:00 BST on Friday, including services from Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales.

Network Rail spokesperson said it was “responding” to the issue and overnight repairs were being carried out.
