Montreal police (SPVM) say a woman is dead and a 27-year-old man is in custody following a well-being check in the Ville-Marie borough Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the Sûreté du Québec requested the check at around 3:25 p.m. at a condo building on Simpson Street near Somerhill Terrace.

Officers found the woman inside with injuries to her upper body. CPR was performed, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A perimeter was established to let the investigator from the major crime unit to determine the circumstances of this death,” said SPVM spokesperson Florence Stafford.
“The nature of her injuries are currently unknown,” she added.

Police say the man was arrested and will be questioned by investigators to determine his involvement.
The suspect will appear in court either Thursday or Friday facing homicide charges.
The victim has not been identified, and it remains unclear whether she lived in the building.
The investigation is ongoing.
According to SPVM, this marks the seventh murder on the Island of Montreal since the beginning of the year.
