Leeds United manager Daniel Farke made history as we won 2-1 at Old Trafford, our first league win away to Manchester United since 1981.
United are in hugely high spirits this week. Daniel Farke’s side put in a monumental shift to win away at Manchester United on Monday.
The magnitude of moving six clear of the relegation zone was one thing. But, to do so with a win away at Old Trafford for the first time in 45 years is another thing altogether.
Spotted: Iconic Daniel Farke image emerges as Leeds United celebrate Man Utd win
Noah Okafor has certainly cemented himself into Elland Road folklore with two goals to down Man Utd. He could not do another thing this season and I’m sure many fans will agree that his £18million fee has paid for itself with such an impact.
However, you’ve got to give flowers to Farke as well.
The Leeds boss has been backs-against-the-wall all season trying to fight against the growing tide for promoted teams. With a six-point gap to the bottom three and six games to play, he’s well on track to achieving what he’s set out. In turn, he’d further cement a strong legacy at the club.
As Leeds posted behind-the-scenes footage from Old Trafford, Farke was spotted with a superb tunnel reaction to a memorable win. The German strolled up the tunnel, with the “Theatre of Dreams” text behind him. He then a ‘hang loose’ gesture as he winked to the camera:
Daniel Farke could enjoy brilliant Leeds United legacy with survival, Old Trafford win, and FA Cup memories
Survival is of course the main objective. But in the process of beating Man Utd at Old Trafford and enjoying an iconic win, he’s taken a huge step with survival too.
We should see off the challenge of safety this season now, given the remaining fixtures we have. And, it could give us a chance to really focus on the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea too.
Staying up, potentially getting to the FA Cup final, and getting one over them lot – that makes for an incredible season in my books.
