Behdad Eghbali has issued a firm vote of confidence in Liam Rosenior, insisting that the Chelsea hierarchy remains behind the head coach despite a bruising run of results.
Behdad Eghbali’s recent comments have reinforced the narrative of stability at Chelsea, positioning Liam Rosenior as the central figure in a long-term plan.
Despite a difficult run of results in the early months of 2026, the hierarchy appears committed to the vision established when Rosenior signed his six-and-a-half-year contract. The focus within the club has shifted toward providing the head coach with a squad that better reflects his specific demands.
Preparations for the summer are already well underway, with the board prioritising the acquisition of defensive reinforcements and proven leaders to balance a young dressing room.

Behdad Eghbali has backed Liam Rosenior to be successful in the long-term at Chelsea, setting up the platform for him to kick on next season (Athletic).
“We think he has every attribute to be successful here. He got off to a great start. We’ve had a tough past five, six matches, but I think we’re behind Liam. Of course, it’s a results business, but we think he can be successful long term.”
The four important words are, it’s a results business, as there is a scenario where Chelsea would get rid of Liam Rosenior ahead of the set plan.
With Liverpool and Manchester United coming up, it’s not about to get any easier for Rosenior.

“The objective is to keep your best players, and we’ve done that, and there’s no intention to rebuild every three or four years. You tweak a model, you improve, you learn from mistakes.”
Well, let’s not speak too soon, as Enzo Fernandez’s future is up for debate with all of the contract and Real Madrid rumours circling around.
