Controversial Canadian author and psychologist Jordan Peterson has been suffering from a neurological injury caused by psych meds and experiencing akathisia, according to his daughter, Mikhaila

The daughter of controversial psychologist Jordan Peterson has issued an update on his health, claiming he is suffering from a neurological injury caused by psych meds, as she says her family has been through “hell”.
The Canadian author has been experiencing symptoms of akathisia as a result of the injury and also suffered from pneumonia and sepsis, his daughter, Mikhaila Peterson, revealed in a recent update on social media. Peterson gained prominence over the past decade for touting a number of divisive views, including criticizing Canadian gender identity legislation.
He previously described himself as a “professor against political correctness,” and became a prominent figure among the “manosphere” for his views on masculinity. But in August last year, the 63-year-old took a step back from the spotlight.

Mikhaila announced at the time that her father would be taking time off from “everything” after being exposed to a “particularly moldy environment,” as she said he’d experienced a flare-up of symptoms connected with chronic inflammatory response syndrome.
But on Saturday, she issued a fresh update on his health. “We figured out that dad has a psych med-induced neurological injury, and has been suffering from akathisia,” she wrote on X alongside a video of herself.

“It’s been 6 years since any psych medications. Last summer, his symptoms started after a flare-up likely induced by mold (CIRS) and stress. It was complicated by pneumonia and associated sepsis a month later,” she continued.
“I would have updated you guys sooner, but he’s still been really sick, and he got worse over the last few months, and I’m 25 weeks pregnant, and I wasn’t able to record anything without weeping the whole time until this week,” Mikhaila said in the video.
“Dad’s been suffering from an old neurological injury that’s been more recently causing akathisia. Akathisia is the worst thing I’ve ever seen anyone go through. That sounds dramatic but it’s true,” she added.

Akathisia is a distressing neurological disorder that often causes severe agitation, an inability to remain still, and an overwhelming sense of terror. “It is intolerable discomfort that makes people want to crawl out of their skin,” Mikhaila explained.
“A lot of people don’t survive it and there’s no quick fix,” she added. She noted that her father also experienced Akathisia in 2020 and 2021 when she claimed that clonazepam, a drug used to treat panic disorders and seizures, “injured him.”
She called for psych med injuries to be “considered a national emergency.” Mikhaila attributed the recent flare-up of her father’s symptoms to “stress” from both of his parents dying last year, as well as moving countries and selling his home, combined with “mold exposures.”
“This has been unbelievably hard on my family. Every day for the last year has been hell,” she said. Mikhaila was hopeful that her father could get better.
“Now that we know what it is and have proper doctors, it can be carefully healed again like it has before,” she said. Mikhaila denied accusations that her father is an addict.
“This neurological injury, calling it addiction is so stupid. Dad doesn’t fall into that category, we’ve made that clear so many times. He quit smoking and drinking when he was 27, he just isn’t that,” she said.
“Instead, he falls into the unfortunately common category of people who were prescribed psych meds long term, and it’s not like they were prescribed for no reason,” she added.
Mikhaila said she doesn’t intend to make another update about her dad’s health because it’s too much stress for her family and “there’s nothing more to say about it until things get better.”
