Footage of MazzaL20 jumping from a window was released on his official Instagram account over the weekend
Scouse rapper MazzaL20 has been returned to prison for a breach of his licence conditions. The Bootle-born rapper, real name Malcolm Graham, shot to fame after illicitly recording tracks inside his prison cell while serving a sentence for gun offences.
Since his release he has gained international recognition as one of the most recognisable faces of the “Scouse rap” scene, collaborating with Aitch, featuring on the hit Fire in the Booth programme and catching the attention of American star Eminem.
But over the weekend Graham’s official Instagram account released footage which appeared to show him jumping from a house window onto a hot tub cover. A Merseyside Police officer was then captured on the video footage walking around the side of the property.
The accompanying statement on the footage said: “It breaks my heart to tell you after escaping out [of] the window [that] Mazza returned to hand himself in and has been recalled to prison. Everything will be explained…we need everyone’s support.”
Merseyside Police has told the ECHO: “[Graham] has been recalled to prison for breaching his licensing conditions having served a sentence for a previous offence.”
Graham was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2016 after detectives discovered footage on his iPhone of him test firing a pistol later used to murder teenager Kevin Wilson.
Graham subsequently pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm, possession of bullets and two counts of wounding with intent. There is no suggestion that Graham had any involvement in the murder.
While in prison Graham recorded a series of illegal songs, releasing them on social media and attracting significant online attention. Graham was released from prison in May 2024 and transferred his online popularity into a starring career as one of the faces of the UK’s rap scene.
Music magazine Wonderland described Graham as “one of the genre’s most exciting rising stars,” with his “bouncing flow and razor sharp bars” having “turned heads across the industry”.
A year after his release from prison Graham welcomed his first child with his partner. He told his 500,000 Instagram followers that his family was now his “no 1 priority”.
After his team posted the footage to his official page, Graham received messages of support from the likes of Charlie Sloth, fellow Scouse rapper Still Brickin and Kwengface.
Graham was previously sentenced for a raft of offences including breaking a man’s jaw and possessing a sawn-off shotgun. Liverpool Crown Court heard Graham was “obsessed and fascinated with lethal weapons”.
