A massive potato giveaway is coming to Calgary this weekend, with 80,000 pounds of free potatoes set to be handed out to the community.
Guru Nanak Free Kitchen Calgary is celebrating what they call “Potato Saturday” at the McKnight CTrain station on Saturday, April 25, by handing out thousands of pounds of potatoes to Calgarians for free. Distribution is set to start at 1 p.m.
According to a Facebook post from the organization, attendees have to bring their own bags to help speed up distribution, and the potatoes will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Organizers say the turnout will determine how many potatoes each person can take, as their goal is to distribute all 80,000 pounds by the end of the day.
