Bench coach Ramón Vázquez, hitting coach Pete Fatse, third-base coach Kyle Hudson, and assistant hitting coach Dylan Lawson were also fired, along with hitting strategist Joe Cronin.
Game-planning coach Jason Varitek was dropped off the major league staff and was reassigned to a new role, as yet determined, within the organization.
Pitching coach Andrew Bailey, first base coach José David Flores, catching instructor Parker Guinn, bullpen coach Chris Holt, and assistant hitting coach John Soteropulos were the only major league coaches to survive the purge.

A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday.
Cora, 50, was 620-541 as manager, taking the job before the 2018 season and leading the Sox to the World Series championship that fall. His 620 victories are third in franchise history.
Cora was fired on Jan. 14, 2020, after Major League Baseball suspended him for a season as punishment for his role in the Astros cheating scandal when he was that team’s bench coach in 2017.
He returned as manager on Nov. 6, 2020. He was under contract through 2027 after signing an extension in 2024.
“Alex Cora led this organization to one of the greatest seasons in Red Sox history in 2018, and for that, and the many years that followed, he will always have our deepest gratitude,” principal owner John Henry said in a statement released by the team
“He has had a lasting impact on this team and on this city. He has led on and off the field in so many important ways. These decisions are never easy, but this one is especially difficult given what Alex has meant to the Red Sox since the day he arrived.
“I want to thank Alex, our coaches, and their families for everything they have given to this organization. They have been part of this club in a way that goes beyond the field, and they will always have our respect and gratitude.”
Henry also owns the Globe.
Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow did not respond to requests for comment. He is expected to be with the team in Baltimore on Sunday along with team president Sam Kennedy.
Tracy, 40, has managed Worcester since 2022. He has coached or managed in the minor leagues since 2015.
Double-A Portland manager Chad Epperson was named interim third base coach. Worcester hitting coach Collin Hetzler was named to the hitting staff.
The Red Sox were 10-17 under Cora this season after returning to the postseason in 2025 with an 89-73 record before being eliminated by the Yankees in the Wild Card Series.
The Sox were among the American League’s worst offensive teams, averaging only 4.1 runs. The Sox opened the season 2-8, seemed to recover, then dropped six of seven before beating the Orioles on Saturday.
Cora was in good spirits after the win, saying a series victory on Sunday was the next step to get back into contention. But that will now fall to Tracy and a makeshift coaching staff.
Cora may not be unemployed for long as the Phillies could be looking to make a managerial change. Their president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, hired Cora in 2017. The two remain close.
