Stephen Welsh celebrates after Motherwell’s win over Rangers

Motherwell’s ecstatic Celtic loanee Stephen Welsh couldn’t contain his joy after the Steelmen stunned Rangers at Ibrox.

Danny Rohl’s men battled back from 2-0 down to level the showdown at Ibrox, before and injury-time winner from Emmanuel Longelo dealt a major blow to the Light Blues’ title hopes.

Jens Berthel Askou‘s men ended a five-game winless streak in Glasgow as they boosted their hopes of snagging a European spot – while offered a boost to Rangers title rivals.

The Hoops – Welsh’s parent club – won their game against Falkirk on Saturday to move joint top of the Premiership table with Hearts, who were trailing Edinburgh rivals Hibs 1-0 at Easter Road when the full-time whistle sounded at Ibrox.

Rangers sit in third spot, a point off the top of the table, with four games remaining and trips to Tynecastle and Celtic Park coming up before the league concludes.

And Motherwell’s behind the scenes footage shows centre-back Welsh lapping up the celebrations on his way back to the dressing room.

He could be heard screaming “yaaassssss” as he clenched his and lapped up the moment in the Ibrox corridor.
