King Charles and Queen Camilla leave memorial
King Charles and Queen Camilla departed the 9/11 memorial just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday to head off to separate events.
The King will be in Harlem visiting a grassroots community organization that works with children and young people impacted by food insecurity.
Meanwhile, the Queen will attend an event at the New York Public Library’s main branch to celebrate both countries’ shared love of literature.

Bouquet laid next to reflecting pool consisted of flowers from New York and New Jersey
The white bouquet that King Charles and Queen Camilla rested beside the 9/11 memorial’s reflecting pool was made up of flowers from farms in New York and New Jersey, according to the British embassy.
The bouquet included white lilac, sweet peas, peonies and white daffodils.

King Charles and NYC mayor meet
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was seen chatting with King Charles after his appearance at the 9/11 memorial this afternoon.
Mamdani greeted Charles and Queen Camilla as the royals made their way through the event.

It was not immediately clear what Mamdani and the royal discussed.
Mamdani had said earlier Wednesday that he would urge King Charles to return a crown jewel to India if the two were able to chat privately.
“If I were to speak to the king separately from that, I’d probably encourage him to return the Kohinoor diamond,” Mamdani said at a press conference before the 9/11 ceremony.
The Kohinoor diamond, a point of contention between England and India, is currently set into a royal crown on display in the Tower of London.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Wednesday he would urge King Charles III to return a crown jewel to India if the two spoke privately.
Mamdani and King Charles were both at the 9/11 Memorial in downtown Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon.

Whilst attending a garden party at the White House on Monday (27 April), the King spoke with Matt Friend, a comedian who regularly impersonates many political figures, including Donald Trump. “I’m going to do my impersonation of you,” he said as he mimicked the royal’s voice. “I’m trying to study you.” Charles playfully responded “keep trying”, as the crowd burst out into fits of laughter. When Mr Friend said he would carry on practicing, Charles joked: “We’ll award you marks of merit.”

King Charles and Queen Camilla take in the memorial alongside former New York City mayor
The royals viewed the 9/11 Memorial on Wednesday morning alongside former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg.
The pair could be seen by the memorial pools, which feature water cascading into the ground. There, they laid a bouquet of white flowers.
The Queen was wearing a navy blue coat dress with maroon embroidery, while the King wore a navy blue suit and a silver tie.
After laying the flowers, the royals spoke with victims’ families and first responders.
Bloomberg, who was mayor from 2002 to 2013, is the chairman of the National September 11 Memorial.

Macron shares playful response to King Charles’ joke about America speaking French
French President Emmanuel Macron shared a playful response to a joke King Charles III made during his White House dinner with President Donald Trump.
“You recently stated, Mr. President, that without the United States, European countries would speak German. Dare I say that without us, you would speak French?” the monarch joked, drawing chuckles from the audience.
The quip later got the attention of Macron, who jokingly chimed in on X, writing, “That would be chic!”
“If ever…See you at the Francophonie Summit,” the Élysée Palace added.
