FIVE-time All-Ireland winning Limerick hurler Diarmaid Byrnes has married his long-time love, Elaine Kennedy.
The four-time All Star recipient tied the knot with Elaine, a teacher from Newcastle West, on Saturday.
The newlyweds celebrated with family and friends – including Diarmaid’s Patrickswell teammates and fellow Limerick senior hurlers and their partners – at the luxurious five-star Dunloe Hotel and Gardens in Killarney.
Statuesque Elaine wowed in a long, flowing, strapless gown with sweetheart neckline. The dress, from The Attic bridal store in Limerick city, featured a narrow neck scarf to complement her long flowing veil.Â
Diarmaid, a business development executive with DHL Global Forwarding, has been dating Elaine for close to a decade.
The 2022 Hurler of the Year proposed in August 2023 during a romantic getaway to Inchydoney, West Cork, just weeks after Limerick clinched their fourth All-Ireland title in a row. Elaine later shared photos of her stunning ring alongside her fiancé and their adorable puppy, Sonny, snuggled in beside her.

For their wedding reception, the couple chose The Dunloe Hotel and Gardens in Killarney – a luxurious five-star hotel set amid the tranquil surrounds of its own 64-acre estate.
Among those in attendance were hurlers Declan Hannon and his wife Louise Cantillon, William O’Donoghue and his fiancee Gemma Cowen, Peter Casey and his girlfriend Michaela Arthur, and Aaron Gillian and his partner Roisin Ambrose.Â
Another notable face was that of Sonny, the couple’s beloved labrador, who was decked out for the black-tie wedding in a smart bow tie.
On Sunday afternoon, Elaine shared an image from the wedding day on her Instagram account which showed her and her husband Diarmaid with Sonny and the stunning County Kerry countryside as a backdrop.
She simply captioned the photo ‘Magic’.
Elaine, who has spent time in Dubai, is a graduate of Mary Immaculate College, while Diarmaid studied at both the University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology.
The couple are understood to be planning to build a home together in Newcastle West.
