Incredible drone images show a birds’ eye view of the Coventry City promotion parade celebrations.
West Midlands Police’s Drone Unit was among the force’s response to making sure that the historic day passed safely for thousands of Sky Blues fans yesterday (May 4).
The unit kept watch of the parade from the skies – and caught some incredible images of the huge crowds.

They shared these images on the page on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a message which read: “Congratulations to CCFC on their promotion. Fantastic celebrations yesterday with the Parade and the ‘We are Back!’ event in the park. Here are a couple of shots from our footage. Well done City and well done Coventry.”

The team added thanks to the majority of drone operators for flying responsibly during the event, saying there were ‘a few’ who disregarded the crowd overflight rules.
Social media has been filled with brilliant images taken from the historic day for the city with some of them being beamed across the country – and even the globe – with TV stations in America said to have shared the celebrations.

‘Incredible’ isn’t just the feeling of fans on the day, Frank Lampard summed up the feelings of the city when he took to the main stage at the We Are Back Live festival at War Memorial Park.
He said it ‘meant so much’, before saying: ” These boys (the team) are amazing and you lot (the crowds) are amazing.”

This sentiment was echoed by local lad Josh Eccles told CoventryLive: “When we were promoted from League One during COVID, we couldn’t go out and celebrate.
“Getting promoted to the Premier League is ten times harder and ten times better so it’s been worth the wait. We are living in the moment and enjoying it.”
