RIP: Body found in search for missing Kildare man as gardaí issue new statement

A search for a young man in Co Kildare has been halted after the discovery of a body.

Gardaí had sought the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 23-year-old Lawrence (Lar) Delaney, who was reported missing from Naas, Co Kildare, on Friday.

Lawrence (Lar) was last seen in Naas, Co Kildare, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 5pm.

In an update on Saturday evening, gardaí confirmed their appeal for information was being stood down after the tragic discovery.

They said: “Following the discovery of a man’s body, the missing person appeal for Lawrence (Lar) Delaney (23), who was reported missing from Naas, Co. Kildare, since Friday 8th August 2025, has been stood down.

“An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.”
