I recently had the honor of meeting Dr. Miriam Adelson at the first annual “Israel Hayom Summit’ in NYC a few months ago. Miriam is an Israeli-American physician, businesswoman, philanthropist, multibillionaire and a prominent conservative political mega donor. Just recently, she gave $40 million to the Republicans’ House and Senate super political action committees, boosting the party’s war chest as it fights to maintain control of both chambers. The donation included $30 million to a super PAC tied to Senate Republican leaders, her largest single contribution yet to the Senate Leadership Fund and another $10 million to its House counterpart, the Congressional Leadership Fund.

She is the widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson of Blessed Memory, the founder and former CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. Through the Adelson Family Charitable Foundation, she has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to Jewish and Israeli causes, including Taglit-Birthright Israel and Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center. After her husband’s death in 2021, she and her family took over majority control of Las Vegas Sands. The company operates major integrated resorts in Singapore and Macao. In late 2023, she and her family acquired a majority stake in the NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks, from Mark Cuban. Adelson is one of the Republican Party’s largest individual donors and a top financial backer of Donald Trump. She has donated extensively to Republican candidates and Super PACs, aiming to shape US politics and policy, particularly regarding US-Israel relations. She reportedly gave at least $100 million to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. In 2018, President Trump awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her contributions to medicine and philanthropy. In 2025, she was named an honoree for the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor.

At the start of the Summit in New York, the Israel Hayom publisher and philanthropist warned that enemies seek to sever the Jewish State from the West, urging the Diaspora Jews to draw strength from the “majestic alliance” and stand tall against rising hate. Dr. Miriam Adelson also delivered a powerful call for unity, resilience, and the strengthening of the bond between the United States and the Jewish state. Dr. Adelson noted that Jewish history managed to go from the darkness of the Holocaust to the revival of statehood, stressing that “the most significant historical difference for Jews is the rebirth of Israel, its brilliant pioneers, fearless soldiers, and the majestic alliance with the great United States.” As I spoke to Dr. Miriam Adelson, she conveyed that she is very proud of my Israel advocacy and involvement with many groups that help make a difference. I conveyed to her that we share mutual values, a love of Israel and the belief that we must make a strong push to keep the next generation informed as we fight the good fight on a daily basis.

As we have seen a recent spike of antisemitism and hate at historic highs, each and every person has an obligation to take a stand against the rise in antisemitism. As of May 2026, antisemitic incidents in New York City remain a significant public safety concern, with Jewish residents targeted in approximately 60% of all hate crimes reported to the NYPD, despite making up only roughly 10% of the city’s population. While 2025 saw an overall 19% decrease in reported antisemitic incidents compared to 2024’s record high, 2025 still recorded 1,160 incidents, which is double the number reported in 2022. To cite a few examples of this rising and disturbing trend, multiple synagogues and homes in Forest Hills and Rego Park were spray-painted with swastikas and antisemitic graffiti and (most recently) anti-Israel protesters clashed with police outside the Park East Synagogue in Manhattan, where an event regarding Israeli real estate was being held.

In response, Dr Miriam Adelson (as a prominent Israeli-American physician and philanthropist) has acted as a leading figure in global efforts to combat antisemitism and support Israel. As of May 2026, she continues to leverage her significant influence and wealth—estimated at over $35 billion (making her the richest person from Israel) to shape U.S.-Israel relations and advocate for Jewish causes. Through the Adelson Foundations, she funds numerous programs focused on Holocaust education and antisemitism awareness. She is a major financier of the Maccabee Task Force, an organization she and her late husband, Sheldon Adelson, founded to combat the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and “anti-Israel hostility” on college campuses. Antisemitism on U.S. college campuses is currently at a historic high, following a massive surge in incidents after the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel. About one-third of Jewish college students report feeling that faculty members have promoted antisemitism or contributed to a hostile learning environment. As I said goodbye to Dr. Adelson, I thanked her for all that she and her family have done and conveyed that the next generation has to accept the task and responsibility ahead of us (in the battle against antisemitism) as a badge of honor as we defend the Nation of Israel and take a stand for what’s right.
