Ontario Provincial Police in Norfolk County say a 53-year-old man and a seven-year-old boy found dead in Lake Erie on Monday were a father and son, and that the search continues for the boat they departed in.
Police say both victims, from Norfolk County, were reported overdue around 3:45 p.m., prompting a search near Townline Street in St. Williams, Ont.
The pair was located by a passing boater about two nautical miles from shore and recovered from the water by the Canadian Coast Guard.
OPP say both individuals were wearing life-jackets at the time of the incident.
The matter remains under active investigation. Police say officers are continuing to search for the missing boat and are reviewing the circumstances surrounding what happened.
They say they are not in a position to release further details. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
