A building was evacuated after a fire broke out at a city centre restaurant on Tuesday evening. Emergency services were called to Vetch on Hope Street at around 5.53pm on May 12 following reports of a blaze at the restaurant.
Two fire engines attended the scene, with crews arriving within minutes. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters found a fire inside the four-storey building when they arrived.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to tackle the blaze using two hose reel jets. While Vetch does not open on a Tuesday, other occupants inside the building were evacuated as a precaution.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said crews remained at the scene after the fire was extinguished to carry out damping down operations and ventilate the building.

Firefighters also cut away floorboards to check for any further spread of the fire.
Crews were later preparing to leave the scene after bringing the incident under control.
