RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Indivisible Carson City and Northern Nevada are hosting a rally for veterans and the community on Saturday from 10am to Noon at the Nevada State Legislature building in Carson City.
Veterans are speaking out against the War in Iran and the cuts to military benefits. “We want people to know at this rally that we are with you, we see you, we understand, and we will never, ever leave you behind,” said Dr. Pat Spearman, who is a Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and former State Senator.
She says Veterans and families she’s talked to have raised concerns about this war and its purpose for the U.S. “Unless we are there for a real reason, for a mission or something that is of national security; you can’t say nuclear weapons because we were told 6 or 7 months ago that they destroyed all of those. So, you can’t say that. What are we there for? Why? Nobody can tell us,” added Dr. Spearman.
Indivisible Carson City says 13 American service members have been killed and over 370 injured since the war began on February 28th.
Meanwhile, Veterans are facing the threat of cuts to military benefits. Dr. Spearman says this will be an ongoing fight beyond the rally. “It’s making sure that we say to our Government and our elected officials, ‘Don’t get this twisted. We love this country, and we love our fellow soldiers, Airmen, Marines, we love them. And if you do something to hurt us, we’ll remember. We know who is for us and we know who is against us.”
Indivisible Carson City (INVCC) and Indivisible Northern Nevada (INNV) are offering memorial art, music, a tribute to fallen soldiers and veterans, while speaking out about the war and cuts to military benefits at its “Veterans Speak Out: No to Iran War. No to Benefit Cuts” rally on May 23, 2026.
