Here are Saturday’s latest updates:
■ Seven people were killed and brought to hospitals in the Gaza Strip in the past 48 hours, 29 people were wounded and one body was recovered from rubble, Gaza’s Health Ministry said, bringing the death toll to 890 killed since a cease-fire took effect in October.
■ Israeli troops in Gaza killed “several” people who had crossed the Yellow Line and “approached the troops, posing an immediate threat to them” on Friday, the IDF said.
■ U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration has cut Israel “almost entirely out of the loop on truce talks between the United States and Iran,” The New York Times reported on Saturday, citing two Israeli defense officials.
■ Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed in a call with his Omani counterpart the ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent escalation, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said.
■ Iran has permitted 25 ships to sail through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy said, according to the IRGC-linked Fars News Agency.
■ A drone impact sparked a fire in northern Israel’s Galilee Panhandle after sirens had sounded in Kiryat Shmona. No injuries were reported.
■ The IDF said it struck overnight an underground weapons manufacturing site that was used by Hezbollah in Lebanon’s eastern Beqaa Valley.
■ An explosive drone launched from Lebanon hit the area of Rosh Hanikra, a northern Israeli community near the Lebanese border, the IDF said. No injuries were reported.
■ Dr. Margaret Connolly, sister of Irish President Catherine Connolly, told RTÉ Radio she and other activists detained by Israel while on board a Gaza-bound flotilla “got a feeling of what the Jews felt like during the Second World War,” adding that Israel is “now acting like a Nazi state.”
