Ian Williams passed away despite the immediate response and best efforts of emergency services at the scene, a club statement confirmed.

A spokesperson added: “The Bob Twin Cam Memorial 12 Car Navigational Rally was established in honour of Ian’s father, Bob Williams, and rallying has been at the heart of the Williams family across four generations.

“Ian’s son and grandson were also officiating on the event last night (Friday), reflecting the family’s lifelong commitment to the sport and the close-knit nature of the rallying community.

“Motorsport UK and the organising team’s thoughts remain with Ian’s family, friends, and all those involved in the vvent and the wider motorsport community at this incredibly difficult time.
