MADISON, Wis. — Fireworks will not make their return to Madison’s lakeshore this Independence Day.
The Wisconsin Union and the Edgewater were planning to host ‘Bucky-n-Booms’ on the Fourth of July, which would include a fireworks display over Lake Mendota. However, that plan has changed.
Organizers on Wednesday announced that the fireworks will not take place and the event’s name will be renamed to ‘Stars, Stripes & Shorelines.’ There will be festivities planned at both the Edgewater and Memorial Union Terrace including free concerts and a water ski performance.
The decision was made “after further planning discussions among partners,” organizers said.
Those looking to catch fireworks in Madison can still see them at Breese Stevens Field following Forward Madison’s match on Independence Day. That game kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
