A mix of tall and smalls have been included in the West Coast Eagles’ extended squad to face the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.
Mid-season recruit Jacob Newton is a confirmed starter – and the Eagles’ ninth debutant this year – but fellow goalsneaks Noah Long and Malakai Champion are also chances to be selected in the final team.
Big men Bailey Williams and Jack Williams are vying for the position left vacant by injured key forward Archer Reid (toe), while veteran wingman Jayden Hunt could play his first AFL game since round 16.
Key defender Harry Edwards has failed in his bid to return from a foot complaint and has not been selected in the 26-player squad.
The Eagles will be forced into at least three changes, with co-captain Liam Duggan (suspension), first-year mid Tom Gross (calf) and Reid unavailable.
Star recruit Liam Baker will skipper the team in Duggan and co-captain Oscar Allen’s absences.
West Coast will confirm its final 23-man team to face the Dogs at 3pm AWST on Friday.
Bouncedown for Sunday’s clash will be at 4.40pm local (2.40pm AWST) on Sunday.
The match will be broadcast live on 7 and 7-plus in WA, and nationally on Fox Footy and Kayo.
