Highway 401 eastbound closed at Kipling after crash

All eastbound lanes of Highway 401 are closed at Kipling Avenue following a two-vehicle collision and a vehicle fire, OPP officials say.

In a post to social media, officers note that emergency crews are on scene responding to the incident.

Paramedics tell CP24 three people were assessed on scene for injuries. Two people are believed to have minor injuries while another was rushed to a trauma centre in “serious possibly life threatening” condition.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes as officials note “some existing traffic is being routed around the collision on the shoulder.”
