My eldest son, Lt. Yannai Kaminka of blessed memory, was killed on October 7 in the defensive battle at the Zikim training base. He and the other company commanders saved the lives of about 100 new recruits, dozens of civilians and hundreds of families in the surrounding communities. After his death, I joined the Parents Circle – Families Forum, (an Israeli-Palestinian group of bereaved families). For me, the organization represents repair, an alternative to the cycles of violence and dehumanization on both sides that led to Yannai’s death and hope for a different future for my three remaining children.
